October 2020 | Week 2
I show up for my life today, no matter what.
"It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else’s life with perfection. The power of God is with you at all times; through the activities of mind, senses, breathing, and emotions; and is constantly doing all the work using you as a mere instrument. A gift is pure when it is given from the heart to the right person at the right time and at the right place, and when we expect nothing in return."
-The Bhagavad Gita
Showing up for life, no matter what authentically and imperfectly is the key to good living! How do we live authentically? A good start is quiet contemplation of who we are and who we want to be. Acceptance of our perfectly imperfect selves is huge too - all of this takes a pause for awareness.
Last week I wrote: IN THE BHAGAVAD GITA, ARJUNA STANDS FOR ALL WHO FACE DIFFICULT CIRCUMSTANCES & CHOICES IN LIFE & QUESTION WHAT THEY SHOULD DO & WHY THEY MUST SUFFER. He also stands as a model of behavior, however, in that he sets aside his pride and reputation to honestly express his fears and doubts and to then accept help and counsel from another. He receives that counsel from Krishna. He becomes the student seeking before he takes any action and Krishna is the important teacher that guides him.
It is that simple!! We show up for life, no matter what but we put in the work to be our authentic self. We set aside our pride and reputation to honestly express our fears and then accept help from others. Life throws us difficult situations all the time, we are all experiencing our own version of “pandemic difficulties” - how are you handling life day in and day out? I am coming up on a year from my cancer diagnosis and I am trying to reflect on this whirlwind year. I know there is a lesson for me, there is a reason I went through this form of suffering and there is something I need to do on the other side. To be continued as I learn!!!!!!
