I release the mental burdens of expectations
I release the mental burden of expectations is our intention this month. However, in our meditation Monday I invited everyone to simply release any mental burdens they are struggling with right now.
I was reading Maria Shriver’s Sunday paper and in it she said exactly what I could also type:
“I’ve noticed lately that everyone I’ve been talking to has been expressing feelings that they can’t quite place or find the right words to describe. Just this week, my conversations have gone like this: “I’m okay.” “I’m hanging in there.” “I feel kind of down.” “I’m not sure what’s up with me. I feel grateful for a lot of things, but something still feels off.”
I’ve also heard: “I’m isolated.” “I’m grieving.” “I cry a lot.” “I miss my old life.” “I’m overwhelmed.” And even, “I don’t want to talk at this time, but I’ll get in touch when I feel better.”
This probably sums up how I am feeling right now as well haha, any and all of those statements could have been said by me over the last couple of weeks which is why I a being extra diligent in my efforts to not only stay sane, but to find the joy and magic in this time of year!
"The most important thing is to enjoy your life. To be happy is all that matters." —Audrey Hepburn
So what am I doing that I can share with you to balance out the yuck in my head and to really enjoy the day?
Each morning I wake up and walk my dog for some fresh air and a burst of cold therapy lol.
Then I grab my meditation and prayer books, my journal and I sit with my warm lemon water, often wrapped in a blanket (thanks Maggie) on my balcony for more cold air and first morning sun vitamin D.
Next I practice yoga or do something physical. Sunday I actually went out for a run since it was so nice out. I never run, but I just wanted to be outside and I felt like I needed to mix up my “ground hog” days in some way.
I reach out to a friend or someone in my family so feelings of isolation don’t creep in.
I try to walk with someone during in the day.
I am sleeping terribly so midday I lay down under my weighted blanket and listen to a 15 or 20 minute yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) on utube. Thanks MaryJo for the suggestion!
Before bed I read a nighttime meditation and do a short journal entry. Right now I am reading “Think like a Monk” by Jay Shetty - that’s the icing on the cake haha.
High maintenance right? Lol!! It is all important and so worth it in my mind to help me navigate this crazy time!!
Write a non negotiable list of 3 things you will do for yourself everyday for the next 2 weeks. It can be any of my habits or make your own. I promise the effort you put in is worth it and the mental burdens, if you have any, will be released with ease.

Remember who we are……..
Why the “Calm Crew”? Think of the Scandinavian word - hygge: [ˈh(y)o͞oɡəˈho͝oɡə] NOUN -
a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).
synonym: calm
Together through The Calm Crew we will create a spiritual community of like minded people, conviviality, trying to find the calm and joy in life!
“I’m Just Saying……”
Last week we talked about dry brushing from the cleanse, this week I wanted to add- “tongue scraping and oil pulling” - more self care actions.
1.Tongue scraping: you can buy one on amazon or any local store. Simply scrape your tongue a few times in the morning before you brush your teeth. This is said to Cleanse toxins and bacteria from the tongue, Cleanse the taste buds to enhance the sense of taste, promotes overall oral and digestive physical well-being and Gently stimulates the internal organs. Great to help us keep COVID away!!
2.Oil pulling: After tongue scraping and before you brush your teeth place a small amount of coconut oil or sesame oil in your mouth and swish it around for atleast 2 minutes. (Spit it in the toilet as it is oil and you don’t want it in the sink). The benefit of the oil is to remove the bad bacteria from your mouth while not removing the good bacteria which regular mouthwashes do. It is also said to whiten your teeth naturally and support healthy gums, finally brush your teeth. IF you prefer, you can brush your teeth before the oil pulling, but please brush again after.
