January 2022 week 4

I trust the Good Orderly Direction in my life and I let it unfold.

I was reading an email from yoga teacher Kia Miller and she reminded me that the true purpose of yoga is “to calm the fluctuations of the mind so that we can rest in our true Nature.” - meaning to come to an inner state of peace and calm, at ease with ourselves and our surroundings.  How do we do this?  The yogic path offers a way but it takes consistent study and practice.  While it make take work, the good news is that we have a solution to address the fundamental causes of our mental fluctuations and disturbances.  Now I know we all have our own “disturbances” unique to us, but the solution yoga offers and I try to share with all of you is a universal solution for all of our issues.

This month we have 3 simple tools to use if we choose:

1.Our intention this month, I trust the Good Orderly Direction (God) in my life and I let it unfold is an invitation to let go of our fears, worries, projections and discomforts.  Write it out, repeat it, shout it!

2.Our Niyama, Ishvara Prandihana - surrender to the Divine - is our dharma tool this month.  As I always say, we don’t get to choose what we are presented with in life, but we can choose how to shift our perspective from fear to faith. With this Niyama we are offered the peace and calm on the other side of surrendering.

3.The meditation this month is specifically designed to help create strong nerves and a calm mind.  Please replay it as many days as you can.

I share with all of you the teachings that have helped me in the hopes that they will resonate with you in some way.  The yoga poses are tremendously helpful for the wellbeing of our body and a class led with intentional dharma can do wonders for the mind and spirit, that is my goal! I want you all to benefit from all yoga has to offer us, so my traditional/non traditional yoga class is my attempt to live with all of you in the solution of yoga.  My mind is busy and persistent!  I need all the help I can get and all of you! This month I have felt those moments of calm in my mind by simply trusting, letting go and breathing.
