Our intention “Poke, Provoke, Confront and Elevate” from Yogi Bhajan has been our guide for studying “saucha” (purity, clarity) this month.
The purpose of purification is to lighten our load…where are these loads for you? Maybe your body is carrying poisonous toxins from a poor diet. maybe your mind is carrying the heavy baggage of guilt, sadness, envy, victimhood or unforgiveness. Maybe your home or workspace is full of clutter and junk. All of these “loads” weigh down your body, mind and spirit. They are real and they are heavy. The guidelines of purity invites us to move into ease, to do what it takes to get rid of this heaviness, wherever we find it in our lives.
Saucha calls us to the inward journey of purification not just the external appearances of cleanliness. There is often falseness in the outer efforts of cleanliness - when we are not showing or working on the true self. In week 1 I prompted your self inquiry with a few questions which I have added here:
1.Does your body feel sluggish?
2.If so, what can you do to help yourself in this area?
3.Do you need to purify your thoughts and speech?
4.If so, what can you do to help yourself in this area?
5.Do you need to purify your relationship with yourself? - leave yourself alone!
6.If so, what can you do to help yourself in this area?
7.Do you need to purify the moment?
8.If so, what can you do to help yourself in this area?
9.Do you need to purify your physical space?
10.If so, what can you do to help yourself in this area?
To take this a step further, review the questions and ask yourself if you can identify any unhealed parts of yourself that are hidden underneath the issues that came up for you. Write them down. This work is a bit deeper and if you need help I am happy to talk it out with you so you can get to the root of the parts that need a bit of cleaning up!
