October 2025 Week 2

Pray, Trust, Wait

I read this meditation this week in our classes and I wanted to share it:
“Pray - and keep praying until it brings peace and serenity and a feeling of communion with One who is near and ready to help. The thought of God is balm for our hates and fears. In praying to God, we find healing for hurt feelings and resentments. In thinking of God, doubts and fears leave us. Instead of those doubts and fears, there will flow into our hearts such faith and love as is beyond the power of material things to give, and such peace as the world can neither give nor take away. And with God, we can have the tolerance to live and let live.”

This of course reinforces the 1st part of our intention this month - Pray, Trust, Wait. Reread last weeks writing if you would like as I broke out these 3 parts and highlighted how each one hinges on the others. Once again this directs me to highlighting one of the many spiritual guidelines of yoga which asks us all to have a daily sadhana, or a daily spiritual practice - anything that brings you into a space of self reflection, prayer and connection with yourself and your higher source. This is where we develop the “balm” for your hates, fears and hurt feelings. It is here that we start to build our muscle of trust, which then allows us to pause and patiently wait.

A couple of weeks ago I was listening to a podcast (ugh, can’t remember which one!) and the speaker was talking about the book Harold and the purple crayon. Not sure about you, but I loved that book. And in the book, anything that Harold wanted he just used his purple crayon and he drew it and voila, he got it! The podcast speaker used this as an analogy and a challenge for us to hand our purple crayon over to to the God of our understanding. Now I am a very visual learner and this is a tangible act that I can visualize - here I go - I am handing my purple crayon over to the God of my own understanding. Start drawing God and I will follow your lead. I trust you will draw all the gifts and joys in my journey and I can patiently wait for your drawings to unfold.
