January 2021, Week 1
Today, I choose to face, "what is."
Satsang in Indian philosophy means the company of the "highest truth," the company of a guru, or company with an assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth.
Hygge - a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality that engenders a feeling of contentment or well-being (regarded as a defining characteristic of Danish culture).
synonym: calm
I love the concept of Satsang and hygge - they were the impetus for my Calm Crew! Yes I wanted to find a way to teach yoga and meditation no matter where I am and no matter where you are. Yes I wanted to share my weekly dharma with a group of like minded people so I could stay in the flow of learning while simultaneously helping like minded people navigate our lives. Further.....with all of that, I wanted to create a spiritual community so I was in the company of the “highest truth”, not a guru, but the guru being our whole group listening to, talking about and assimilating the truth. And all of this would then create a quality of coziness and comfortable conviviality, contentment and calm.
This week is my first week of only sharing my dharma writings with the Calm Crew. In January of 2019 I started my dharma email and it has grown to a very large group which is amazing, however this group is an authentic Satsang - you committed to joining me and so I am committed to serving you - again thank you!
This months intention is: Today, I choose to face "what is”. I think this will be helpful this month as we continue in “COVID living”, building on last months releasing the mental burdens of expectations and living in acceptance of what is, no matter what. January is always a time of resolutions and goals, lets first take a look back at 2020 and find the challenges, the lessons and the joys. From this place of awareness we can then get clear on what we want in 2021 and what we want to leave behind. Please go to the Bonus Content in the Calm Crew and print out the “2020 Reflections/2021 Hopes and Dreams” worksheet for yourself and listen to Monday’s meditation which guided us in looking over 2020, going forward the meditations will focus on the new year and facing life exactly as it is with resilience and joy!

In addition to a monthly intention, we will also have a body part we will focus on each month and a corresponding pose. This month we will focus on the chest, shoulders and upper back - the heart chakra. The pose repeated weekly will be camel. Please join me in class to hear about the energetic, emotional and physical significance of this part of the body as well as the benefits of camel pose.
Class is at 8am tomorrow, January 6th, 45 minutes - link below:

I’m Just Saying……”
In November I wrote a blog about my previous year with cancer and the pandemic and how my yoga and meditation practice helped me through. Please read it in the bonus content area of the Calm Crew.
