December 2021, week 5

I Feel Balanced and Aware!

“Everything is already OK.  The notion strikes us as radical, and it surely is.  What it means is that in our essential nature we are already fully awake and enlightened; it means that God is available to us fully in the moment, simply because God is our true nature.  We simply have to stop resisting it.  There is no distance to travel, nothing special that we have to do to earn God.  It’s a “done deal.” Stephen Cope

This is our last week for our intention - I feel balanced and aware and our Niyama, Svadhyaya.  Remember this is translated as self - study, to know ourselves. It Invites us to release the false and limiting self-perception our ego has imposed on us and know the truth of our Divine self.

We suffer because we forget who we are.  We think we are the layers that we are wrapped in and forget we are really the “Divine” hiding inside.  Self-study is about knowing our true identity is divine and understanding the layers (our ego) we are wrapped in.  This quote above reminds us that everything is already ok!  We have the divine already inside of us and this will make us feel balanced and aware!

Self study asks us to identify the layers we wrap ourselves in and this includes the parts of ourselves that we are not so proud of.  This month I was listening to Matthew Kelly and he referenced the Japanese art of Kintsugi.  Look this up the pieces are beautiful!!!!  Kintsugi is the Japanese art of putting broken pottery pieces back together with gold — built on the idea that in embracing the flaws and imperfections, you can create an even stronger, more beautiful piece of art.  In this art form they not only embrace the flaws but they highlight them with gold.  Think of this as it relates to yourself - are there flaws and imperfections that you try to hide? How would it feel if you highlighted them instead, being honest and open about your whole self?

This year life presented me an opportunity to clearly see some deep rooted flaws and imperfections.  I have spent a lot of time rehashing and beating myself up.  This I know will make me sick on all levels - emotionally, spiritually and even physically.  My work for 2022 is to embrace Kintsugi in my life and to put myself back together with “gold dust” highlighting my flaws and seeing what gifts that can bring me and those I serve.  So to be continued in 2022……..😇.
