January Week 3

I am starting the New Year with intention and peace

Yoga Sutra 10-11 states:
“The subtle causes of suffering are destroyed when the mind merges back into the manifest. The gross effects of suffering are discarded through meditation.”
Why the heck are we still talking about suffering??? I truly do believe our suffering is our spiritual lessons. When life gets sticky, what do you do? For me, in these times I pray more, journal, speak to my spiritual mentors, meditate and listen! This puts me into the solution of life, rather than staying stuck in the problem of the Kleshas.

It is simply explained how to escape the cycle of suffering:
1st the Yoga Sutras state: "Ignorance of our real nature is the source of the other four, whether they be dormant, weak, suspended, or fully active.”
So, this refers back to the 1st klesha as being the root of the other 4. All causes of suffering are contained within the first cause of not knowing the true nature of reality, not know who we are.
When you remember your true identity as pure spirit (1st Klesha):
-Your ego no longer dominates your awareness, giving and taking offense, or seeking the approval of others. (2nd Klesha)
-You let go of attachments, understanding that in an impermanent material universe everything has a beginning, middle, and end. (3rd klesha)
-You no longer avoid those things you fear, knowing that those things are impermanent and illusory, and cannot cause harm to your true self. (4th klesha)
-You are liberated from your fear of death in the realization that death is merely a transition between one expression of your spirit and another, and anything you are holding onto with a “death grip” is let go. (5th Klesha)

Further, to transcend the 1st Klesha and thus the remaining 4, we go back to the above quote - from Patanjali in Yoga Sutra 10-11 states:
“The subtle causes of suffering are destroyed when the mind merges back into the manifest. The gross effects of suffering are discarded through meditation."

Simple right? Nope!!!! But if you are like me, you like a well laid out plan and that we have!

With our intention - I am starting the New Year with intention and peace - and all of this information in mind, answer these few questions:

1.Does this make sense to you?
2.Do you have a meditation practice of any kind - it can be a mindful quiet walk or cup of tea.
3.How do you begin your morning?
4.How can you rest in your simple, silent moments in the morning, With no rushing?
Our mornings truly set the tone for our days, this time is precious so don’t rush through it!

Further, I asked these questions in week 1 and I would like to give you another chance to journal and answer them if you have not:

How would you like to nourish yourself this year
-physically
what is 1 action you can take today?
-emotionally/mentally
what is 1 action you can take today?
-spiritually
what is 1 action you can take today?
